Abstract: The paper is based on the modern researches in the theory of political discourse (Laklau, Muff, Zizek) and the antagonistic model of democracy (Laklau and Muff). The author described the discourse mechanism of construing identity in political discourse and specified the role social antagonism plays in the sense of structuring the given discourse space (discourse of political identity)
